Rich Dad Live Event at 2am, Philippine Time

I just watched Rich Dad Live Event. I am still awake while most Filipinos are sleeping, preparing for work for next day, except for people online in Facebook. There are few things to learn from the event and I want it to share it with you here:

1.) Obama cannot save America, the economy, and even the world.

2.) The rich favors on not paying taxes. The higher the income you have, the higher the taxes you pay.

3.) 1929 was the Great Depression. The economy recovered by 1954. In other words, it took 25 years for the economy to recover. Now, the economy was already in the Second Great Depression last 2007, it was worst than previous depression and it may take that long again for the world to recover!

4.) Middle class will be wipe-out.

5.) Be financially literate. Leave your friends if they will tell you that the world is in trouble because this is the best times, and for most, the worst times.

I was walking along streets and looking for effects of inflations after the increase in NLEX fare in Philippines. I found out that even the simplest consumable product like Donuts and Siomai had already increased their prices. You cannot control their price. But you can control your future. Here's some advice Bill Gates recently dished out at a high school speech about 11 things they did not learn in school. He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teaching has created a full generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept sets them up for failure in the real world.

Rule 1: Life is not fair - get used to it!

Rule 2: The world doesn't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

Rule 3: You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.

Rule 4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.

Rule 5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.

Top 10 Common Faults in Human Thinking

The human mind is a wonderful thing. Cognition, the act or process of thinking, enables us to process vast amounts of information quickly. For example, every time your eyes are open, you brain is constantly being bombarded with stimuli. You may be consciously thinking about one specific thing, but you brain is processing thousands of subconscious ideas.

Unfortunately, our cognition is not perfect, and there are certain judgment errors that we are prone to making, known in the field of psychology as cognitive biases. They happen to everybody regardless of age, gender, education, intelligence, or other factors.

Some of them are well known, others not, but all of them are interesting. I am sure everyone will find that one has happened to them, (I myself have been prone to several) and now will recognize when they are making an error in the future.

10. Gambler's Fallacy

The Gambler's fallacy is the tendency to think that future probabilities are altered by past events, when in reality, they are not. Certain probabilities, such as getting a heads when you flip a (fair) coin, are always the same. The probability of getting a heads is 50%, it does not matter if you've gotten tails the last 10 flips. Thinking that the probabilities have changed is a common bias, especially when gambling. For example, I am playing roulette. The last four spins have landed on black, it has to be red this time right? Wrong! The probability of landing on red is still 47.37% (18 red spots divided by 38 total spots). This may sound obvious, but this bias has caused many a gambler to lose money thinking the probabilities have changed.

9. Reactivity

Reactivity is the tendency of people to act or appear differently when they know that they are being observed. In the 1920s, Hawthorne Works (a manufacturing facility) commissioned a study to see if different levels of light influenced worker productivity. What they found was incredible, changing the light caused productivity to soar! Unfortunately, when the study was finished, productivity levels decreased to their regular levels. This was because the change in productivity was not due to the light levels, but to the workers being watched. This demonstrated a form of reactivity; when individuals know they are being watched, they are motivated to change their behavior, generally to make themselves look better. Reactivity is a serious problem in research, and has to be controlled in blind experiments ("Blind" is when individuals involved in a research study are purposely withheld information so as not to influence the outcomes).

8. Pareidolia

Pareidolia is when random images or sounds are perceived as significant. Seeing clouds in the shapes of dinosaurs, Jesus on a hot pocket, or hearing messages when a record is played backward are common examples of pareidolia. The common element is that the stimulus is neutral, it does not have intentional meaning; the meaning is in the viewer's perception.

Interesting Fact: the Rorschach Inkblot test was developed to use pareidolia to tap into people's mental states. Testees are shown images of ambiguous pictures, and asked to describe what they see. Responses are analyzed to discover the testee's hidden thoughts.

7. Self-fulfilling Prophecy

Self-fulfilling prophecy is engaging in behaviors that obtain results that confirm existing attitudes. A self-fulfilling prophecy is a prediction that causes itself to become true. For example, I believe that I am going to do poorly in school, so I decrease the effort I put into my assignments and studying, and I end up doing poorly, just as I thought.

Another common example is relationships; I think my relationship with my significant other is going to fail, so I start acting differently, pulling away emotionally. Because of my actions, I actually cause the relationship to fail. This is a powerful tool used by "psychics" – they implant an idea in your mind, and you eventually make it happen because you think it will.

Interesting Fact: Economic Recessions are self-fulfilling prophecies. Because a recession is 2 quarters of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) decline, you cannot know you are in a recession until you are at least 6 months into one. Unfortunately, at the first sign of decreasing GDP, the media reports a possible recession, people panic and start a chain of events that actually cause a recession.

6. Halo effect

The Halo effect is the tendency for an individual's positive or negative trait to "spill over" to other areas of their personality in others' perceptions of them. This bias happens a lot in employee performance appraisals. For example: my employee, Biff, has been late to work the past three days; I notice this and conclude that Biff is lazy and does not care about his job. There are many possible reasons why Biff was late, perhaps his car broke down, his babysitter did not show up, or there has been bad weather. The problem is, because of one negative aspect that may be out of Biff's control, I assume that he is a bad worker.

Interesting Fact: The Physical Attractiveness Stereotype is when people assume that attractive individuals possess other socially desirable qualities, such as happiness, success and intelligence. This becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy when attractive people are given privileged treatment such as better job opportunities and higher salaries.

5. Herd Mentality

Herd mentality is the tendency to adopt the opinions and follow the behaviors of the majority to feel safer and to avoid conflict. Also known as "Mob Mentality," this is, at its most common form, peer pressure. Herd mentality explains why fads get so popular. Clothes, cars, hobbies, styles, all it takes is a group of people who think something is cool, and it catches on.

Interesting Fact: things that are unattractive, or that would never seem cool or popular now have had huge followings due to herd mentality. Examples include parachute pants, pet rocks, mullets, cone bras, tie-dye, sea monkeys, and the 1980s.

4. Reactance

Reactance is the urge to do the opposite of what someone wants you to do out of a need to resist a perceived attempt to constrain your freedom of choice. This is common with rebellious teenagers, but any attempt to resist authority due to perceived threats to freedom and/or choice is reactance. The individual may not have a need to do the specific behavior, however the fact that they cannot do it makes them want to.

Interesting Fact: "reverse psychology" is an attempt to influence people using reactance. Tell someone (particularly children) to do the opposite of what you really want, and they will rebel and actually end up doing what you want.

3. Hyperbolic Discounting

Hyperbolic discounting is the tendency for people to prefer a smaller, immediate payoff over a larger, delayed payoff. Much research has been done on decision-making, and many factors contribute to the individual decision making process. Interestingly, delay time is a big factor in choosing an alternative. Put simply, most people would choose to get 20 dollars today instead of getting 100 dollars one year from today. Normally it makes sense to choose a greater amount of money immediately than less in the future, as the value of a dollar is worth more today than it is tomorrow. Assume that the interest rate is 9%, at this interest rate, a rational person would be indifferent to taking $91.74 now, or $100 a year from now. However, it is interesting how much less we are willing to take immediately rather than wait, would you rather have $100 a year from now, or $50 immediately? How about $40 immediately? Where do you draw the line?

2. Escalation of Commitment

Escalation of commitment is the tendency for people to continue to support previously unsuccessful endeavors. With all the decisions people have to make, it is unavoidable that some will be unsuccessful. Of course, the logical thing to do in these instances is to change that decision or try to reverse it. However, sometimes individuals feel compelled not only to stick with their decision, but also to further invest in that decision because they have sunk costs. For example, say you use half of your life savings to start a business. After 6 months, it is evident that the business is going to be unsuccessful. The logical thing to do would be to "cut your losses" and drop the business. However, due to the sunk costs of your life savings, you feel committed to the business and invest even more money into the project hoping that the additional cash will turn the business around.

1. Placebo Effect

The Placebo effect is when an ineffectual substance that is believed to have healing properties produces the desired effect. Especially common with medications, the placebo effect has been observed when individuals given a sugar pill for a real ailment report improvement. Placebos are still a scientific mystery. It is theorized that placebos cause an "Expectancy Effect", (In cases of uncertainty, expectation is what is most likely to happen) individuals expect the pills to cure their ailments, so they feel cured. However, this does not explain how the ineffectual pills actually cause a reduction in symptoms.

Interesting Fact: The term "Placebo" is used when the outcomes are considered favorable, when the outcomes are negative or harmful; the term is "Nocebo."

To summarize, most Human Thinking fail because of different mindset, group of people you are with, past experiences that makes you think you are a failure and add fear to new or previous goal, present economy, and alike. To minimize all of these, we must improve our thinking by improving our mindset. To improve our mindset, we must be aware of all of our subconscious thoughts that we are thinking everyday. Is This Your Best of Times or Your Worst?

Rich Dad’s Prophecy, by Robert Kiyosaki, is about a coming stock market crash said to come about as a result of retiring Baby Boomers liquidating their retirement plans.

According to Kiyosaki, the tremendous stock boom from 1982 to 2000 came as a direct result of the 76 million Baby Boomers flooding the stock market with investment capital. This process is a simple example of supply and demand -in this case extremely high demand for stocks. Much of this stock is held within pension, IRA and 401k type retirement plans.

The problems start to come out when the numerous early Baby Boomers start to retire in the near future. At retirement, stocks will be sold as aggressively as they were bought and stocks will be driven down by all of the selling. As stocks tank many retirement portfolios will shrink considerably.

Even if stocks do not crash, most Baby Boomers still won’t be able to afford to retire for the length of their vast expected lifespan!

Additionally, according to Kiyosaki, pensions are a relic of the past. Pensions became widespread at a time when life expectancy was much lower than today. A company could afford to pay their former employee until they died shortly after retirement. Now, the majority of corporations can’t afford to pay the pensions of an entire population that is expected to live to their mid 80’s!

Many Baby Boomers understand that they won’t be able to retire at 65. Some of the more optimistic ones say they will just work until they can’t possibly work any longer. But this isn’t an intelligent plan, as 25 percent of those older than 65 are physically disabled, whether permanently or temporarily!

The only solution, according to Kiyosaki, is to increase your financial intelligence and to generate cash flow from wise investments that make money regardless if the economy is up or down.

As a Filipino citizen, a major stock market crash or a crash on our economy as a result of liquidating of retirement plans of baby boomer can result in a major decrease of middle class and a major increase in poor class. If this happened, I hope not, what position are you into? Solving the same mindset who created it will not solved the economy. And looking for a government help will neither solve it. The really question is, is thiyour best of times or your worst?

Speech delivered last March 1, 2002 during the launch of the Ateneo de Manila University John Gokongwei School of Management

Good morning.

I am John Gokongwei, Jr. I am not an Atenean but I feel at home with you. Today, at least.

Sixty-two years ago, I could not have dreamt of appearing before the
Jesuits and their students to tell the story of MY life. I was no more
than a student then, at San Carlos University in Cebu, when my father
died suddenly. It left me, the eldest, the responsibility of taking
care of my mother and five siblings. That was tough for someone who was
13. Creditors had just seized our home and business and I had no
experience with earning a living.

But here I am--not all on account of my good looks or charming
personality--but because I somehow survived. And when I look back, I
know now that I did so because I recognized CHANGE when I saw it.

The first change was war. I had turned 15. My mother had already sent
my brothers and sister to China where the cost of living was lower.
From Cebu, she and I had to make money to send to them.

I turned to peddling. My day began at 5 in the morning. I would load my
bicycle with soap, thread, and candles, and then bike to neighboring
towns to sell my goods. On market days, I would rent a stall, lay out
the goods from the bike, and make about 20 pesos a day, enough for me
to survive and to buy even more goods for next time. Those days, you
might call my BICYCLE AGE.

After two years of biking and peddling, at 17, I entered my BATEL AGE.
The batel was a small, very utilitarian boat that defied the open sea
and would take me farther from Cebu and all the way to Lucena, from
where I would take a truck to Manila, with companions twice or thrice
my age. The sea trips could take two to three weeks depending on the
weather, and the land trips another five to six hours. (I was lighter
then, you can imagine.)

On the batel, I read books like Gone with the Wind under the great blue
sky to pass away the time, even if we traders were always in fear of
sea pirates and the bad weather.

Once, our batel hit a rock and sank. Thank heavens for my rubber tires!
Those were the goods I had with me to sell in Manila. Well, we all held
on to those tires, which meant I saved all those traders and those
traders saved all my tires.

At that time, the War was still going on. Ironically, I look back at
the War with the fondest of memories. It was the great equalizer.
Almost everyone I knew had lost big and small fortunes at the time.
This meant we all started at ground zero. Ground zero meant living by
our wits alone; ground zero meant starting equal; ground zero was where
I discovered I was an entrepreneur.

When the War ended, I was 19. Because of the war, the economy was more
dependent than ever on imports. So when I set up Amasia, my first
company, it was to import textile remnants, fruit, old newspapers and
magazines, and used clothing from the US.

There was a side benefit to this. I would wear some of my own stock, so
I would have different clothes to wear when I went courting Elizabeth,
the woman who would be my wife. But at the end of it, I made some money.

The Bicycle Age was over. The TRADING AGE began.

By then, my brothers and sister returned from China. Together, we
worked in the trading business I had begun: as bodegeros, clerks,
warehousemen, cashiers, and collectors. And all this while they were
all still going to school; me, I stopped schooling. Like most
Chinese-Filipino families, we worked where we lived, and at times, we
had to endure the stench of rotten oranges and potatoes filling our
two-story apartment.

By the early '50s, we were importing cigarettes and whiskey as well.
Business was good. But two factors made me change strategies again.
First, I saw that trading would in time become a low-margin business
BECAUSE we were at the mercy of our suppliers and buyers. Second, I saw
that the government was working on import-substitution policies to
encourage local business. President Quirino wanted to shore up the
country's foreign exchange reserves that had been depleted as a result
of the high importation of the post-war years.

So I decided to enter the AGE of MANUFACTURING. In 1957, I started a
corn milling plant producing glucose and cornstarch. Why cornstarch?
Because I thought--and it turned out, correctly--that the unglamorous
cornstarch would be in great demand from better known businesses like
textiles, paper, ice cream, pharmaceuticals, and beer.

But there was one problem: I needed capital. That was not easy. I was
30, had no big company success to back me up, and I didn't know any
bankers.

Thankfully, Dr. Albino Sycip, then chairman of China Bank, and DK
Chiong, then president, gave me a clean loan of P500,000 to start my
business. He would be asked later why he did that and he said something
about knowing a good man when he saw one. (Maybe he knew something I
didn't.) Anyway, from there Universal Corn Products, the predecessor of
Universal Robina Corporation, was born.

Of course, the bigger cornstarch players did not give us an easy time.
They engaged us in a price war. That is a nice way of saying they tried
to kill us by selling low.

But we prevailed, and started to get clients like San Miguel
Corporation. It was my first real taste of competition. And I liked it.
I think THAT first experience prepared me for the bigger, tougher
competitors in my future.

By 1961, cornstarch was becoming a commodity, and I saw that there was
no future in a business where we had to keep lowering margins to
survive.

It was time to get into the bigger, and riskier, game played by big
multinationals like Procter and Gamble and Nestle. I saw that all they
did to capture the market was to brand their products, for instance
their coffee and their toothpaste. That is, give their coffee and
toothpaste a name, a face, and an image that customers would instantly
recognize and identify with quality. Me, I dreamt that one day I would
be the Philippine Nestle or General Foods. So the Manufacturing Age for
me was giving way to the AGE of BRANDS.

So, we put up CFC, and our first successful product was Blend 45, an
instant coffee we put out to directly compete with Nestle's Nescafe. We
positioned it as "the poor man's coffee," hired top movie star Susan
Roces to endorse it, and employed Procter-and-Gamble veterans to sell
it. Basically, we took a page out of the multinational book, and
applied it to our business. We gave our coffee, snack food, candy, and
chocolates a name, a face, an image. Today, Jack and Jill, Max candy,
and Cloud 9 have become household names.

It was also at this time that I returned to school for an MBA--with all
due respect to the Jesuits, at De La Salle University--and a decade
later, for a 14-week advanced management program at Harvard. Going back
to the university for studies which war had interrupted gave me an
appreciation, believe me, for the beauty and the breadth of business
life. This is something I believe I would never have gained if I had
chosen to stop my education.

The success of URC opened up many opportunities for our group. We had
the choice to focus on food where we were very successful-or to pursue
other businesses. We decided that there were too many good
opportunities to pass up, and that remaining in our comfort zone would
stunt our growth. So we got into the Age of Expansion.

For the next two decades, we pursued businesses that answered positive on FOUR CRUCIAL QUESTIONS.

First: Is there a market?

Second: Could we compete against both local and foreign players?

Third: Could we find the right people for the job and did we have enough capital to pursue the business?

Last and most important: Did we have the stomach for it? That is, could we take the sleepless nights, the cutthroat competition?

We went into textiles, retail, real estate, telecommunications,
aviation, banking, and petrochemicals because we said YES to all those
questions. Still, in all those industries, we were faced with tough and
worthy competitors: the mighty SM Department Stores and Malls, the
unbeatable PLDT, the entrenched Philippine Airlines and the powerful
San Miguel Corporation. Most pundits expected us to fail. They were
wrong. Robinsons Stores and Mall, Digitel, Cebu Pacific Air and
Universal Robina Corporation are now market leaders in their respective
fields.

That's because they offered the public a choice.

Remember the story of David and Goliath? Every industry has its
Goliath. But every David knows that all giants have their weaknesses.
Every weakness is an opportunity.

In a few months, we will launch our mobile services to compete with two
giants, Globe and Smart. Our stomachs are churning for sure, but we
know that we faced similar challenges before, and we are hopeful we can
prove the pundits wrong again.

In the past decade, which is one-sixth of my entire business life, the
company has tripled in size. This was the decade when our companies
raised money from the global equity and debt markets, brought our
companies public, and hired the best professionals to run them. In six
decades, we grew from a one-man team to a group with 30,000 employees.

Now I am in what you can probably call the AGE of GLOBALIZATION. I am
always asked where I stand on this issue. I say that it does NOT matter
where I stand because as sure as the Ateneo Basketball Team will win
next year's UAAP championship, global barriers will come crashing down,
and we have no choice but to prepare ourselves for that.

Still, our company will not take globalization sitting down. OUR future
and the country's depend on how we act now. JG operates branded food
concerns in Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Hongkong, China,
and soon, Vietnam. We also sell our snack foods in India, Korea, and
Taiwan--one of the few ASEAN companies to do so.

In a few years, when foreign products find their way into OUR shopping
carts as they already have, we want Piattos and Chippy to find their
way into THEIR shopping carts as well. Our dream is to be the first
group to plant the Philippine flag throughout Asia.

As I look back, I ask myself, "What if I had stopped at cornstarch?" I
would probably be the owner of the biggest cornstarch group in the
country today or just as possibly, be broke.

But I chose to live my life unafraid even during times when I WAS
afraid. I discovered that opportunities don't find you;/ you find your
opportunities. I found those opportunities when MY FATHER PASSED AWAY,
WHEN WAR CAME, THROUGH CHANGES IN PRESIDENTS AND THEIR POLICIES, DURING
MARTIAL LAW, DESPITE COUP DE ETATS, PAST ECONOMIC BOOMS AND BUSTS, AND
IN THE MIDST OF MARKET SHIFTS AND MOVEMENTS.

Now I'm 75 and retired. And funny, but I often wonder what ever
happened to my first bike! The bike that was my companion during those
first years when my family had lost everything. I wonder where it is
now? That bike reminds me that success is not necessarily about
connections, or cutting corners, or chamba--the three Cs of bad
business.

Call it trite--but, believe me, success CAN BE ACHIEVED through hard
work, frugality, integrity, responsiveness to change--and most of all,
boldness to dream. These have never been just easy slogans for me. I
have lived by them.

I hope that many of you in this room will some day choose to be
entrepreneurs. Choose to be entrepreneur because then YOU create value.
Choose to be an entrepreneur because the products, services, and jobs
you create then become the lifeblood of our nation. But most of all,
choose to be an entrepreneur because then you desire a life of
adventure, endless challenge, and the opportunity to be your BEST SELF.

You have seen this a number of times. JOB opportunities, locally and globally. It has made a major difference to how we think we are living right now, maybe the way I look my friends, relatives and parents as well. I want to be a Software Manager of Global Company which is Gold Partner of Microsoft. Being a Gold Partner defines that you have a good connection with the highest company in the world, Microsoft. I was also a Microsoft Student Partner for two years in a row, and was invited to speak a couple of times in different fields. That was my goal, to be a great Software Engineer and be known and be part of Microsoft.

But being in Employment doesn't mean you are already secured. Before Lehman's Brother bankruptcy and AIG Financial Crisis last September of 2008, my company already experience financial crisis globally. It was early July to August. We didn't expect it. And the first one to sacrifice are the employees, not the owners or partners of the company.

JOB is Job Over Broke. I was broke at that time. Broke in the way that I come to a point that I have don't have money to sustain my transportation needs from Muntinlupa to Makati and vice-versa. I really need to take action at that time.

Blessings in disguise, I met my rich dad, his name was CA2020.NET. It was Create Abundance Business Community. I met my mentors, my true friends, a connection of great diversity of people coming from different kind of business and experience in life. It was a blessings in disguise.

Today, I made money more than I made from my previous job. Honestly speaking, I had a great company before. Rich Dad's Coaching: Professionals Have Coaches Amateurs Do Not

When I started reading Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki, I noticed very important aspect in order to succeed in what you are doing, and of course in this area, business and investment, one key Robert Kiyosaki is always mentioning is that "Professional's Have Coaches, Amateurs Do Not". It was weird then because I am kind of person who works by myself. I am a Software Engineer by profession and I work with Internet most of the time because we are on a fast changing world of Information Technology.

So why do we need coaches or mentors? For example, I play basketball and I take lessons, but I do not have a full-time coach. This is probably why I pay money to play basketball instead of getting paid to play. Yet, when it comes to the game of business and investing, I do have mentors in this business community. Several of them, in different field, with different background. Why do I have coaches? I have coaches because I get paid to play those games. I get leverage with their wisdom. Even Bill Gates, Pacman, Michael Jordan, or Warren Buffet have mentors.

In employment, we also have coaches, our supervisor/bosses, whatever we call them. But the main thing I am aware of is that it's not your boss business to make you wealthy, he is just doing his part on corporate world. In this business community and from the people I've met with regards to business and investment, I met coaches and mentors which whom I gave trust with because they work with me as a team to make me financially free. They don't teach me because they want something from me, they teach me to contribute and give value to me and other people's lives. It's the greatest fulfillment to serve other people's lives - Peaceful Warrior

So take a look at yourself, do you have a mentor or coaches? Or are you listening to preacher who preach but do not apply what they are preaching in real life?

In closing, it is certainly no accident that most highly successful people have mentors. So finding yourself a mentor could be one of the most important things you ever do to become financially free and be successful!

Have you imagine saving yourself a lot (e.g. Banks, Personal Savings) but you are not getting the quality of life you want? Because saving is not for the rich person. Why will you save if the value of your money depreciate in value over a year. Why will you save if there is a high rate of inflation? Why will you save if you don't know even how to manage and divide your money? Money management are not even taught in schools. The idea is you Save then you INVEST. You let money work for you, and not you working for money.

In world of business and investment, you must take account two critical things. One, what risk I am willing to take to take this investment. Two, is this a risky business?

Number one pertains to the fact that our world is risk. Life is a risk. Everyday, you encounter people and things that might risk your life or health, or your personal things as well like money, time, effort, etc. Are you willing to take the risk once you engage into something new to you?

Second, is this Business risky? Risky business pertains to the fact that will it be successful 10 years ahead? Is this included to what Robert Kiyosaki statistics that 2% of business companies succeed from the 15 years since it was started? Are the systems good? Is there a good market? This strikes me most, not to confront me, but to come to a space that I need to understand the attitude and personality of a true businessman and investor as well. According to Robert Kiyosaki, attitudes and mindset of a person from a Corporate World which is in the E Quadrant (E stands for Employee) is different if you want to shift to B Quadrant (B stands for Business). And you can never run a good business if you are shy or don't express yourself to others. In a world of business and investment, there are people who you will meet in order to negotiate to them. People who you will need to leverage, people you will need to sustain your resources, people you will need to educate and learn from them. In other words, you develop your network of people to build your empire and be financially free.

One thing that I learned from this is that don't let your mind think what people will think of you if you want do something uncomfortable because you want to succeed into something. Everyone wants to be a millionaire but not everyone chooses it path, and most of them are dreamers who lack actions to take the opportunity around them. It may take sometime to overcome something you want to change, but never let it stop your way. Be unstoppable! And from Create Abundance, I learned to change my physical world, my emotional attitude, my mental thinking how the things should be done, and the spiritual, which I must have faith in everything I do. For many, they believe when they see it. For entrepreneurs, they believe first before they see it.

Pros and Cons of Being an Employee

I started working to a fast food restaurant way back when I was 17 years old. At that time, I cannot take how people around me treat me. It was one of the famous fast food restaurant of Philippines and yet, it seems people treat me wrong and I cannot see the way I must be treated. That's why after 1 month, I resigned and didn't show up.

The second time I worked is on one of the best manufacturing company I know in Laguna. Everything was ok except again for the people around me. I noticed that as you go up, people pull you down. I am always excited to tell my parents that my boss are keep on telling me that I can lead and I was the reason why their department was going good, but it's hard to say that some eyes are looking besides you and ready to strike. One time, I noticed that I was on the hot seat for most seniors on the company with my same department. That's why after OJT, I didn't continue my career with the company even they have great benefits and compensation.

The third time I worked for a company was on same field I took on College which is Major in Software Development. It was again one of the best Software Companies I've ever known. One thing that took a change when I was already here in company is I never expect that I will be one of employees who are included on the retrenching they initiated. That was one of the biggest lost of my life. This company was part of my greater big dreams.

Most of my experiences in Corporate World includes new set of friends, new learning, new challenges, but the greater part which is achieving my dreams is not on the list. You can do your best in Corporate World but it may not be the best enough for your dreams. You can strive harder but you are just keeping the Company more fruitful and wealthier. It's a matter of whether you are aware of it or not.

That's why I shift into Business and Investment World. Although I am still considered as Self-Employed because I still don't have 500 people working for me, yet the thing is I am taking into action to achieve my bigger WHY of achieving my dreams.

Being in Business and Investment consist of new set of rules, new set of people, new set of attitudes, new set of systems, and new set of characteristics. You are the one earning even you leave the company. You are surrounded by people who are richer than you. You work even you have disabilities. You hire smarter people than you. You earned not from working hard, but working smart. You work not because you have to, but because you CHOOSE to. Lehman Brothers in Bankruptcy? Now Global Crisis?

This was the headline now continuing to flood our main television stations these past few days. On September 15, 2008, it filed for bankruptcy protection; the filing marks the largest bankruptcy in U.S. history. The following day, its investment banking and trading divisions were acquired by Barclays along with its New York head office.

Now the question is, what's in for us? As future investor, it maybe a bearish look as it may seems, but good investor can still succeed in this investment opportunities even the economy is down.

Before the news end, I've heard the reporter end the news by telling to the masses to love the money, love saving the money, and love your work. Wow, I smiled at that. An angry smile. Why? Because, saving the money was one of the reasons why some Filipinos didn't improve their lives, and worst, achieve their dreams. Even loving work is dangerous. To readers of my blog, you don't need to believe a word I say. I am saying everything here based on my own experience, my books I read, and from my mentor's teachings as well.

"What's the sense of saving if the value of your money depreciates every year" - Robert Kiyosaki. When I was an employee, I love saving. But then I realized as I approach my one year in Corporate World, still, I do not have savings as I expected before I started on the same company. Same goes with my office mates. It's a common dilemma from most employees. Even they have savings, they still pretend they don't have. So why is this? Because, saving is what are taught to us when we are still young until graduated. Teachings about how to MANAGE and how to handle money not to BUDGET money are not practice and discuss in schools. Even it was, it is not practically applied. Knowledge is not power. It is only a potential power. It can be powerful if it is applied and put into action.

So what's the sense of saving? Invest it and make money works for you. YOU as a person still working hard to earn money still have a LINEAR thinking about money. Meaning, you are still on the mindset of getting large amount of money through hard-work. This is true in Industrial Age but not on Information Age. Working smart is the key.

Lastly, will you achieve your dreams in Corporate World? If yes, will it sacrifice your time, or your age? If yes, why are you still there? If you still your answer is because you believe and love your work, then you maybe start thinking what I have said.

Power of Clarity

One thing that virtually all millionaires have in common is that they have a Vision of becoming a Millionaire. That's right, vision is one of the key ingredient. All of us are captain of our ship. And our ship is what we called LIFE. If you don't have a clear vision of what you want to achieve in life, do you think you can notice what islands will you supposed to land? Will you notice if that island is already a key to your search for your greatest dream you are looking for? In most simple terms, if you do not have a clear vision, and you do not focus on it, you are missing a lot of OPPORTUNITIES that comes to you day by day.

For example, I will give you a simple exercise. If you are sitting right now and reading this blog, take 60 seconds of concentrating what you are hearing around your environment. Just 60 seconds. Ready? Then GO!

What do you notice? Perhaps you heard the sound of your electric fan, or may be the people around you on what do they are talking, or the sound of the wind, and even your heartbeat! Because you focus on what you are told to. The same way goes with your vision. If you want to become wealthy or you want to achieve something greater than what you are right now, and you focus and detailed yourself on that vision, you will achieve it because you focus yourself and you will start to see opportunities most people usually ignore and are not aware of. But if not, opportunities may just pass and miss the chance of achieving your goal.

Clarity is important. It is one of the powerful aspect of becoming who you want to be 3 or 5 years from now. What you are right now is the result of what you have done yesterday and 5 years in the past. So what you do today will be the result of what you will become tomorrow. Be a meaningful specific on your vision. Don't be a wandering generality, be a meaningful specific. The more you are clear to your vision, the better. Now take actions and GO!

Create Abundance 2008 Boot Camp Batch 1

What a weekend! The Create Abundance Business School conducted or shall I say organized a specialized boot camp at Oxford Hotel at Pampanga for all members and aspiring members of Create Abundance community. By the way, there is no outline of the program that was distributed to us, so we don't really know what will happen next on the boot camp, or what was inside it.

After arriving at Oxford, we are welcomed by a big room of empty spaces, with lengthy walls and circle of chairs from each corner. I expected a different business technology that will be used from the boot camp. And I wasn't disappointed. The agenda, business discussions, formations, outlines, etc, were first in the Philippines, and was used all over the world. And as much as I can say, there is no something like this yet in the Philippines. I will not mention the names/description of this technology for the privacy of the theme of boot camp and what business outline and technology was used.

It was tiring when 10pm came up. I really want to sleep but still, from 8am in the morning, I am still learning. Most especially, all speakers where practitioners from real estate, stocks, professors, teachers, basketball players, researchers, business administrators, etc. Even break time, everyone was speaking about everything, of course, business.

I am new to this boot camp. I think I haven't attended one boot camp yet. I think this is the first one which I can say will be one of the best I have ever attended. I learned a lot and keep on learning. One of the speakers who spoke last Sunday was very experienced and aspiring from what his words means to me. Have faith. One phrase which also struck me most. If you plan to do business, have faith even though you haven't achieved it yet. Eyes, are one of the organs of the body that can see but deceive us. We may see something, but having faith can see deeply what we want. If we see that our business is not going to what you are plan for, have faith, its part of the game.

I noticed most of the successful speakers who spoke at the boot camp already imagine that they are successful even though they're eyes where telling them that they were not. Imagine that you can handle an income of 500,000 pesos per month within 3 years? That's insane or non-sense for everybody. But for most of them, that's possible if you have faith, for me from GOD first, then from your passion, and from your goal on achieving it.

Winning the Millionaire Race

Do you have a dream? What is it? Do you know where you are right now on your dreams? Or don't even have a dream? If in worse case, you don't, what is your dream when you are a child? Are you on that direction? Or as the time and as you age, you don't even matter your dreams anymore.

In fact, everyone has a dream. That is human nature. We are born for that. My dream when I was a child was to have a big telescope on rooftop of our house so that I can discover the wonder of the Universe. I still dream for that, I was not actually born as a programmer but as a scientist, mathematician, or a player in basketball and chess. But I didn't achieve my goals. Instead I end up as a programmer though I am happy with it, because I still choose it.

As time passes by, I still have many dreams. Dreams are meant for personal satisfaction, for human joy, for pleasure, and to share all of these to your loved ones. But the questions is, how far are you right now on your dreams?

I can describe a dream from a race. If you were trained by your trainers to compete in the race, you were train to win, and to stand-up whenever you fall. And when the time comes in order to compete the race as everybody does, you need to run in order to win. What if the race starts, and you didn't move nor run the race? Do you think you will win?

Dreams are like that, dreams are the race of our heart, of our destiny we want to achieve. The people around you, like trainers, professors, teachers, or alike are your trainers of your real world race. You need to listen to them and they will teach you to win. If you start the race, don't stop, run the race. What do you prefer, run in order to have a 50% chance of winning your dream, or just stop and do nothing to have a 0% of winning?

The answer is OBVIOUS.

Power of Having a Millionaire Mind

Last Saturday, again I attended the seminar I found on the net. This was the same seminar I attended before but with a twist. I learned a lot, and learned about the Secrets of the Millionaire Mind. It was a video presentation presented by T. Harv Eker. He was also the author of the famous book Secrets of the Millionaire Mind. Although I haven't heard or read his book yet, it seems that he was a famous person, full of energy, vibrations from his voice is powerful, and a very intelligent at the same time wise person. So what keeps him famous? Or shall I say what keeps him millionaire?

If we will analyze from Robert Kiyosaki perspective from T. Harv Eker, there are some differences, but the theory of actions to millionaire are the same. From T. Harv Eker, money is never ever and NEVER be problem. It was quite shocking, I didn't get the point the time I heard it. But I analyzed and it was because we are also the one who is making the money. Most people tie their neck from money that almost money is the one dictating our lives. Why do most people work? Because they fear they will not have the money to pay their bills, their needs, necessities, etc. But they still complain the amount after they pay all of these things. In other words, they only receive what is left from all of this payment, sometimes, nothing is left from them. It was also not a good fact that taxes, and alike contribute all of this things which may be bothering to someone and also to me.

Now what's the point of all of this, we cannot blame anyone if why we are earning a lot but receiving to little. Why? For T. Harv Eker, why are you still there on your position if you don't like what you are earning? I didn't say that being an employee or self-employed is not a good thing, but one thing is certain, it will not make you to the world of financial freedom. For some it may, because of retirement plans the companies are promising us, but how old are you by that time? Do you prefer that age? Working almost most of your time in a week without having a break just to earn a big bucks?

In order to earn more, remove yourself from your comfortable zone. Most of us are comfortable from our zone (example: work) but if you have the passion to earn more or to become a true millionaire, you must remove yourself from your comfortable zone in order to start growing.

Thoughts - Feelings - Actions = Result

The output is what you earn or what you have now. If you thought you will become Millionaire someday, it will follow all your feelings, then the action will become the bridge to financial freedom. That's the Power of Having a Millionaire Mind!

Everyone wants to be a millionaire. Ask me, and I will answer a big YES! Money is power. Those who says money is the root of all evil, they are talking non-sense and even I pity them because from themselves, I know they need money. If you don't want money, can you say to yourself that you don't need to work because money is evil? It is the way you handle money.

The first question if you want to be a millionaire is why? How? Where? When? Common questions interrelated which each other. For the purpose of this blog, I will discuss steps I've learned from my previous seminar I attended last Saturday. And from some quotes I learned from one of the great investors and businessman I've known and met.

If you want to be a chef what do you study? If you want to be a nurse, you study nursing of course. If you want to be a lawyer, you need study law. In my part, I study Computer Engineering and Information Technology because I love computer and programming stuffs. So the question is what do you need to study if you want to become a millionaire? Of course, you need to study wealth, how to acquire it, how to generate it, how to earn passive income. From building a large empire, we must first big a big hole on it. Why would you build a large building if you don't have a solid foundation? The same applies for building a mass wealth and an empire. Build a solid foundation that will serve as a root so that when a big wind blows, the empire is still standing, large, and tilt.

Most seminars relating to millionaire I've read, and attended taught me to build first a big hole before build a large empire. That's secret, secret most people ignore. And creating a mass wealth will be like a seed planted on a nice soil, once it grows, it keeps growing even you leave it.

How To Earn Passive Income?

It was a tiring day for me. I was at work yesterday, but I need to attend a seminar today at a very early morning. Though I am not used to waking up to early, I am really interested in this seminar. I was kindly invited by Ms. Kristine, and she was very nice to me although I didn't make my promise to attend last week.

Though I am still tired and lack of sleep, I made it at the right time at Pearl Drive. I am looking for the place and having a hard time, but still I made it. The first person I met was Ms. Kristine of course. I didn't regret that I attended the seminar. I learned a lot. Really a lot and honestly speaking, I want to become part of the group, their growing community, where passionate individuals believe on something they know, sooner, will achieve. I also believe but still I need to dig a large hole to build an empire.

As a purpose of course of this post, I want to share what is Passive Income. Of course, some of you may have heard of it, so what it is really all about? According to Wikipedia's definition, it is a rent received on a regular basis without a large effort put on it. Of course, I have and the seminar has a meaning on it. Passive income is the income you don't actually work for it. In other words, you are not there, you don't use your time, and you do not actually need your physical body, to earn this income. Cool isn't it? Earning without actually working? Is that possible?

One of the best way to earn from Passive Income is of course understand financial literacy. But of course, for the purpose of this course, I will just summarize it. Some of the BEST ways to earn a passive income is through Dividends, Interests, Real Estates, and lastly Businesses.

Well, that's it, though, you really need to learn first how to earn Dividends, how to buy stocks, etc. Don't be in dig with something you don't know of course. That's all, hope you learn a small things from this post.

Can Mass Transit Rescue Philippines?

In our world today, everything even the price of usual and common commodities are already rising. They were already a big deal for most of us specially to Filipino people. One thing I see here is that the oil price will keep on rising and the exchange for barrel will still continue to increase. Though it already did a sharp decline from an original price of 130$ per barrel from a record high of 150$ per barrel, still, oil companies here in Philippines still keep their fast track business of keeping their high price of gasoline and insisting the public that they need to recover from their losses.

Anyway, as an office worker, I feel the change of large fare I am spending to my transportation allowance. It was a quite a shock, from original 135 pesos to 170+ pesos of transportation allowance, instead using that money to food or for other miscellaneous activities.

Well, there is other way and a time for discipline. Just what I wrote on my other blog, I need a time and I need to start my time for a discipline. Solution? Transit transportation method. According to the previous news I've heard and I've read last week, MRT transit will faced out buses along EDSA. Though I didn't believe on that, it may drive people who are commuters into MRT stations instead of taking a bus ride which is much more expensive.

One thing I like from it is that it's much safer comparing to buses or jeepneys which are prone to holdaps. Though MRT stations are some possible targets for bomb threats or alike. Though there is down and ups for different transportation methods, I see MRT transit as a good way of saving my money, a faster way to go to work, and a safer way at my way home.
